Abstract

The expansion and strengthening of Mexico's ties with the countries of the Pacific Rim have become an important part of the actions that the country carries out in the field of its international relations. The Pacific Rim is presented as a very promising alternative for the development of foreign trade, regional integration, technology supply and market diversification. This set of opportunities must be taken advantage of by Mexico, combining the great potential represented by the participation of our natural trading partners: the United States, Canada and the Central and South American countries of the Rim's coastline. The objective of this essay is to show how and in what way our country has become interested in the Pacific, what is its current status as a member of this community and, finally, what are its prospects in the short and medium term.
