Regulatory Diplomacy in American Regional Organizations and Mechanisms: Towards a Regional Health Self-sufficiency

Resumen
Mexico has assumed a leadership position within the framework of regional organizations and mechanisms in order to promote health self-sufficiency in Latin America and the Caribbean. As Pro Tempore President of CELAC, Mexico led the adoption of a Health Self-sufficiency Plan for the region. This Plan includes the promotion of a regional medicine’s agency and the installation of a regional
school of sanitary regulation. At the hemispheric level, it has promoted the agenda of the Pan American Health Organization, been the host of the XI Conference of the Pan American Network on Drug Regulatory Harmonization.
