Abstract
Africa, the second most populated continent in the world and with the lowest income per capita has had significant democratic, economic and social advancement in the new century. An increased demand for its raw materials and unprecedented flows of loans and investments from China and Asia have promoted fast development particularly in 20 countries. The next 10-15 years entail crucial challenges and opportunities for further development. By 2100, Africa will be the most populated continent, with a great demographic bonus, and huge challenges in terms of poverty, jobs, and income distribution that will require high volumes of financing and human capital for infrastructure, education, health, housing, productive investment, security and inclusive and sustainable development.
