Abstract

This essay develops a proposal to diversify Mexico’s relations in the international scene. It emphasizes the need for intense bilateral connection between Mexico and countries of a size, influence and structural conditions that are similar to our own: the so called “New South” (NS). The purpose of this is to forge solid alliances with small countries and the middle powers so as to strengthen their voices in the international decision-making process. The author analyzes the members of the NS, as well as Mexico’s prospects with each one of them. He concludes that our country’s bilateral dialogue with these nations can increase opportunities in a changing, complex world.
