Abstract

The Mexican Studies Centre, UNAM-South Africa, is the fourteenth branch that the National Autonomous University of Mexico opens abroad. The internationalization policy promoted by UNAM’s principal, Enrique Luis Graue Wiechers, aims to promote the academic mobility of university students and scholars, to improve the teaching and research, as well as to promote the teaching of Spanish, the dissemination of the Mexican culture and the academic extension of this educational institution. Overall, the aim is to consolidate the prestige of UNAM at the international level and to strengthen the strategic alliances with institutions of recognized international prestige.
