The Significance of Teaching Swahili Language in México

Abstract
This article includes a review of the origin and development of the lecture on Swahili language, which began in 1982 in the Centre of Asian and African Studies at El Colegio de México. It mentions the importance and significance of the study of this African language based on its history and international success, citing the achievements and positive gains for thirty-seven years. However, it also shows the problems and challenges that Swahili teaching has faced, due to the lack of interest and marginal role that unfortunately African studies have in Mexico.
