Current Russia: Economic and Political Aspects

In recent years, Russia appears frequently in the news of the western media, involved in controversial issues. The above occurs in the context of a complicated geopolitical situation and an unprecedented information war between this country and the West, which suggest the imminence of a conflict of high dimensions. This article tries to present, in a descriptive and general way, the political rearrangement in present-day Russia, its economic potential and the difficulties it encounters to insert itself in the new globalized economic realities, after the fall of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).
