Abstract

This essay analyzes the evolution of Mexico's participation in the emergence and creation of the UN. It is argued that Mexico managed to have a decisive influence on the design and implementation of the UN because, between 1944 and 1945, it was able to combine its vision of what should characterize the organization that would replace the League of Nations with the unavoidable political realities left by the end of the Second World War. Given the necessary reform currently demanded by the UN, it should be noted that some of the Mexican proposals put forward 50 years ago are perhaps still valid.
