Abstract

Latin America has the human and material resources to build a more developed and just society to the extent that it accepts, first, its cultural heritage and its mestizo origin. While the world is struggling with social and political instability, our continent has a certain tranquility in these areas; the economic crisis that it has gone through since the last decade certainly imposes a great effort. The restructuring of the economy is unavoidable and the social cost that this implies is high; however, reality forces us to make adjustments that allow the development of the economic base for the benefit of the entire society. However, the task does not only remain in the economic field, political and social systems must also be strengthened to consolidate a more just and equitable society that allows access to higher social stages.
