Abstract

In relation to the possible cultural changes that the Free Trade Agreement will bring about, the strategic analysis is pertinent in the face of categorical comments, some apocalyptic for national identity and others festive for the presumed entry into the first world of Mexico. Gradually, some questions were imposed that problematized such assessments (and the real background of the subject): Do the processes of globalization imply the establishment of a global culture from the United States? Is the Americanization of social ways of being synonymous with the Americanization of culture? Is there a single national culture? Is this (or these) so unarmed to the economic and technological thrust of the United States? We will see below, in its strategic perspective, some of the concepts and realities involved in these questions.
