The Strategic Relationship with Europol to Combat Illicit Arms Trafficking to Mexico
Main Article Content
Abstract
Mexico requires a comprehensive and diversified strategy to curb illicit arms trafficking that meets the demand of criminal organizations. Although collaboration with the United States authorities is the highest priority in the international arena, these actions must be complemented by a strategic collaboration with Europe. A working arrangement with Europol would have huge impact, as it would complement bilateral cooperation with each of the European Union Member States that manufacture the weapons seized in Mexico and, at the same time, facilitating the task of the Mexican authorities in combating the illicit arms flows.
