This text is part of a series of 19 recorded interviews that Graciela de Garay made to Ambassador Alfonso Castro Valle between April and August 1986 as part of the “Oral History of Mexican Diplomacy” project. This project is carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the collaboration of the Instituto de Investigaciones Doctor José María Luis Mora, where the recorded tapes and a copy of the typewritten version made by Alicia Moreno Sánchez are kept. Another copy is in the “José María Lafragua” Library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the transcript, only the questions were removed to make the reading more fluid and maintain the spontaneity of spoken language.
