Abstract

T

This issue especially dedicated to Europe and its relationship with Mexico constitutes a splendid opportunity to commemorate the signing of the original Comprehensive Agreement, which in December 2017 celebrated its 20th anniversary. For this reason, photographs of the signing of the original agreements between Mexico and the European Union are included in the historical section. Like today, at the time it was crucial for that negotiation to be successful: it was the priority project of the foreign policy of the administration of President Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de Léon, since the essential diversification of Mexico's foreign relations was pursued, after the entry NAFTA entered into force in 1994. These photographs also pay tribute to two notable people, who were key in that negotiation and who recently passed away, in the same week of November 2017: Rosario Green, who was Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and Manuel Marín, for many years Vice President of the European Commission.
