Abstract

A brief historical review on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Spain shows that, having shared history, culture and language, a legal-political framework in between, complementary economics; and similar positions in regional, bi-regional and multilateral policies, widely justify speaking about unique and strategic relations. Relations between Spain and Mexico have gone through multiple channels simultaneously, many of them taking place outside of the official scope, and these issues, have not been less important. The strength of the relations has made it possible that the political alternation in both countries has not undermined the economic and cultural exchanges.
