Abstract

In this article, the authors reflects upon on the challenges and opportunities for Latin America to improve diplomatic practice through digital public diplomacy. They consider that the work of communicating today moves away from the secrecy that conventionally characterizes diplomacy, an updated diplomacy incorporates citizen participation, diverse opinions, and non-hierarchical dialogue, and suggest a series of questions that invite us to think about institutionalization through digital infrastructure, and the involvement of civil society in a matter that used to be exclusively of concern of a small group of public servants.
