Read and Translate: From Soft Power to Poder Suave

The translator is in principle an attentive reader with an added responsibility: like any reader, he must be able to understand what is written and then he must be able to transmit it using the words of another language. The words —those “pieces of meaning”— of the original language must resonate in the semantic nodes of the translator, who will try to represent their meaning with words that activate equivalent semantic nodes in the target language. That is the crux of the translation: to aspire to semantic coincidence, to ensure that the words resonate, evoking in the reader images, sensations, experiences that bring him closer to the author and allow him to recognize his speech.
