Abstract

The long and little known history of the international cooperation of México has its roots in 1900. In the following one hundred years, the Mexican government progressively deployed more actions of cooperation and humanitarian assistance under different modalities in all the developing world. In this period, the management of the international development cooperation by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs gained increasing sophistication, and it became more institutionalized with the establishment of the Mexican Institute of International Cooperation (Imexci) in 1998.
