This article refers to the challenges faced by ministries of foreign affairs and the need to innovate and update its activities in the context of a more complex and better-connected world. It suggests the use of new technologies in services, cultural diffusion and staff recruiting with different backgrounds as well as performance evaluation and job promotion with objective and transparent methods.
