Abstract

In this article about the migration of Mexicans and the accompanying financial impact this has had on Mexico in recent years, the author argues that this monetary and financial diaspora has given many corporations a major competitive edge on global markets, but that this expansion has not produced any tangible benefits for the domestic market. This is attributed mainly to the limited development of small and medium Mexican companies, which have been left too weak to invest more as a result of business cycles and repeated crises, while the financial system operates more like a global bank, virtually indifferent to the needs of the country’s various regions and communities.
