The Multilateral and Transversal Perspective of the Consular Protection

This article analyses the circumstances that explain the growing participation of “consular affairs” on the inter-institutional and multi-lateral areas. In addition, the paper analyses consular department’s strategic contribution in benefit of the migration governance progress and the improvement of the assistance to Mexicans abroad. The dialogue and cooperation with civil society organizations and the enrichment of a daily consular practice promote a better protection to the Mexican community that participates in migration.
