Abstract

The exhibition Ángel Zárraga. El sentido de la creación was presented at the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes, within which the boards that, commissioned by Alberto J. Pani, the painter from Durango made in 1927 to decorate the halls of the Legation of Mexico in Paris were exhibited. The existence of such paintings is not a new topic; its good workmanship and content have been treated by various specialists and scholars of modern Mexican art. Without undermining or detracting from these readings, it is pertinent to propose another one: to understand that such canvases were also the product of a peculiar gesture of cultural diplomacy, devised by the former foreign minister.
