Capacities and Strategic Options of Emerging Powers in the 21st Century

Abstract
The articles that appear in issue 94 of the Revista Mexicana de Política Exterior were reviewed and translated a few months after being presented at the seminar “The International System and Emerging Powers” (Mexico City, December 13-14, 2010), so they do not include references to the most recent events. The academics gathered at the headquarters of the Matías Romero Institute fundamentally analyzed three issues: the distribution of power in the 21st century (in particular, economic power); the political repercussions of the relative loss of power of the United States in favor of the emerging powers (especially China), and the international strategies of the latter (with emphasis on the new forms of international management or governance).
