Abstract

This article discusses the role of Mexican communities, particularly for Mexicans living in the United States of America, and highlights the significance they have acquired when drafting Mexico’s Foreign Policy. It focuses on how the promotion and interaction with Mexican communities have become the new perspective of consular diplomacy, and concludes with a description of the lessons learned as well as the challenges and opportunities that the ime faces in the following decades with the purpose of strengthening the formula regarding migration, development, productivity and national youth.
