The Matías Romero Institute for Diplomatic Studies convened a group of experts on security and disarmament issues, Mexicans and foreigners, diplomats and academics, to reflect on the current importance of the Treaty of Tlatelolco. The essays included in this issue of the Revista Mexicana de Política Exterior highlight the importance of this legal instrument and the way to strengthen the regime created by it; the relevance of attempts to integrate nuclear-weapon-free zones and the obstacles they face; as well as the possibilities and potential of the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Some of them also highlight the need to reflect on the verification schemes of the non-proliferation norm that currently exist, in order to strengthen them, and to achieve them, in Latin America. a regional disarmament process that turns the NWFZ into a zone of peace.

With this issue on the Treaty of Tlatelolco, the Revista Mexicana de Política Exterior celebrates the appearance of its first 50 issues. The uninterrupted publication of this magazine since its foundation in 1983 is proof of the support given by those who have been in charge of the Mexican Foreign Ministry and the directors of IMRED. Those of us who publish it are sure that this publication has contributed to keeping open a plural space of information and analysis on Mexico's foreign policy and international issues of special interest to our country.
